White Pelican, taken at Keystone State Park, Westmoreland Co., May 25,
2004
Karen Jackson reported a white pelican at Keystone State Park lake at
5 PM that afternoon. I dashed out and got some pictures. This one is
taken through a spotting scope. This is the first time a white
pelican has ever been seen in Westmoreland County, # 299 on the county
record list.
There was a white pelican on Shawnee Lake 2 days earlier. This
might possibly be the same bird or perhaps two pelicans got
trapped in that last storm system. This is a western species.
