Conservation Connection at the Zoo, Saturday May 3rd, 2008
The Westmoreland Conservancy is hosting
"Conservation Connection at the Zoo" to be held
Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.
Open to the public, and in celebration and in support of conservation efforts (of resources such as land, water, wildlife) throughout southwestern Pennsylvania, this event is designed to be fun, informative, and provide an opportunity for individuals and organizations to share information and ideas about conservation efforts and how to support them.
The Conservation Connection at the Zoo will include:
- Behind-the-scene tours!
- Buffet dinner under the Garden Tent with a focus on sustainability and local vendors
- Children's activities, including face painting and a magician.
- Zoo animal appearances
- Access to Windows to Conservation- a staffed, interactive activity room
- Guest speakers
- Information tables and display areas for sponsors and participating organizations
- A background slide show of local groups at work and of our region's great natural beauty.

On Saturday, October 13th, a Scavenger Hunt was lead by Doug
Bauman in the King Reserve on Crowfoot Rd. It was fun for all who attended!
On Sunday,
October 14th Several members attended Fall Colors Photo Outing, Ohiopyle.

On Sunday,
November 4th many members of the Westmoreland
Conservancy and members of several other organizations joined for a
hike and
photo outing at the Brennan Property, located along Jacobs Creek which
borders Westmoreland and Fayette counties.

Annual Meeting and Elections held April 25th
The Westmoreland Conservancy
held it's annual meeting and Elections in the meeting room of the
Murrysville Library to nominate and elect the 2007 Officers and Board
of Governors. We were pleased to see a nice sized group of members
show up for this important meeting. Here are the results of the
election:
